The Organization Organization Blog

The Organization Organization is very excited to announce that we have a new team member – Kathryn McFarland. She’ll be writing about the intersection of lifestyle (health, wellness, media, culture) with organization (management, alignment, design, methods). Find out more about her below!

Organization is imperative for a healthy lifestyle. Having grown up fairly active and participating in multiple school sports, physical activity has always been an important part of my life. After high school, when I was no longer running in physical education classes or for team sports practices regularly – I realized two things:

  • If you don’t plan your workouts, they don’t happen
  • You cannot stick to a pizza and ramen diet and expect to feel your best

Since then I’ve found a love for healthy eating, yoga, spin classes and work-life balance. I love creative recipes, walking in the sunshine and smiles. I currently live in San Francisco and work in the industry of health and productivity, which is more commonly known as corporate wellness. I believe that we can all make improvements to our health habits and that personal well-being is often overlooked in the United States. The Harvard Report found that cancer is the most preventable disease and 40% of all cancers are caused by the typical American diet, lack of physical activity, and obesity. Genetics play a role in disease as well, but it is significantly less than the lifestyle decisions that are made on a daily basis.

My goal is to write articles that will inform and inspire you to leading a healthy lifestyle. It’s easier than you think – you just have to get a little organized! Whether it be wellness at work, organizing your desk or organizing your mind (both of which go hand-in-hand), I’ll bring topics to your attention that will make you healthier and happier.

I grew up in a small town east of Seattle, Washington. In my last two years of high school I spent a lot of time in France, learning why ‘french women never get fat’ and in Northern Italy exploring a passion for life. I then spent four years in Switzerland where I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Communication & Media Studies. I enjoy trying out new recipes with friends (currently on a vegetable spiralizing kick), team sports, lazy Sundays reading in the park, and learning about (and drinking!) wine.

Jiliane is the founder of The Organization Organization, a San Francisco-Bay Area based professional organizing company. After years of working in a variety of industries (food service, health care, financial planning, and communication), she realized that she had gravitated towards the same thing at every single job… organizing! Now she uses her super-powers to help people feel less stressed and cluttered, by transforming their space. It’s her mission to help people become more efficient and productive, so that they can have more time to do the things that make them happy.
